Guadalupe Oak Grove is a best kept secret in San Jose. Located across Almaden Expwy on the other side of Almaden Lake, this hidden gem is surrounded by residential houses which allows it to stay somewhat private.
Named for its copious amounts of oak trees, this park has many trails for hiking, beautiful hilltops overlooking San Jose, and wildlife - we think it's definitely a hidden treasure in the Bay Area.
PARKING
The parking lot has limited space but there is plenty of parking off of Thorntree Drive near the entrance.
FEES
There are no entrance fees.
ACCESSIBILITY
This park has many smooth paths for walking as well as some hills to climb. We do sometimes detour in some grass areas so there's some uneven ground - but nothing too crazy.
Public restrooms are located at the end of the parking lot turnabout.
PETS
Pets are allowed at this location! There are squirrels and birds so be sure to keep a leash for your fur baby.
DOWNSIDES
This is a hotspot for many photographers during the fall and it can get a bit crowded.
It's also used for school track and field training which can use the trails a lot.
